Horse trails in the Lake District

The Lake District offers the perfect horse riding and trekking holiday destination. There are a number of bridleways that are surrounded by spectacular scenery. If you fancy a trek or a lesson whilst staying at Lingmoor Guesthouse there are some excellent equestrian centres nearby. Check out:

Bigland Hall ~ Two miles from Newby Bridge in the south lake district is an extremely professionally run centre, with an indoor school, where you can receive a group or private lesson or even classical training for the more experienced rider. They offer lead rein rides for the nervous, novice or child riders, who would like to experience an outdoor ride. They offer estate riding, fell riding, trial riding and beach riding. Crooked Birch ~ is a little further south at Ulverston in the lake district. They offer rides from 2 hours to all day following Cumbrian bridleways and admiring the stunning views such as Old Man of Coniston, Dow Crag, Scafell Pike and Morecambe Bay. Witherslack Hall ~ is 8 miles from Grange over Sands in the lake district. We have had very positive feedback from the guests that have ridden here and they offer tuition indoors as well as the outdoor riding

Lakeland Pony Trekking ~ is on the Patterdale road near Troutbeck Village. Their rides will take you through the valley of Troutbeck on a one hour ride using an ancient packhorse path view the scenery of the valley or a longer ride takes you through the valley or for the more experienced rider, hill riding at an exhilarating pace up onto the highr bridleways on a varied route of fells, fields and tracks with stunning views of Lake Windermere.
